These experiences, from hospitals to community health projects, aren’t just what I’ve done; they’re what have shaped me most, teaching me empathy, patience, and the power of small actions to create lasting change.

Hospital & Clinical Volunteering

Caring Teen Volunteer & Year Volunteer — Houston Methodist Hospital

As part of the Caring Teen Program, I rotated across CT/Radiology, Cardiology, Intermediate Care, Emergency, and Bed Management units, gaining hands-on exposure to multidisciplinary hospital operations.

  • CT/Radiology: Observed diagnostic imaging processes and assisted in emergency CT procedures, gaining insight into the role of radiologic technology in rapid diagnosis.

  • Cardiology & IMU: Supported nurses and physicians during patient rounds, assisted with administrative tasks, and helped patients ambulate, fostering both communication and compassion.

  • Emergency Department: Restocked medical supplies, assisted nurses, and observed emergency physicians manage acute cases—an invaluable lesson in urgency and teamwork.

  • Centralized Bed Management: Observed how efficient patient transfers and discharges sustain hospital flow and care coordination.

This experience gave me a comprehensive view of inpatient care, emphasizing how precision, empathy, and collaboration define effective healthcare delivery.

Student Volunteer & Year Volunteer — Memorial Hermann Health System

Volunteered with the Operating Room Attendant and Anesthesia teams to support surgical workflows and patient comfort.

  • Assisted with room turnovers, surgical setup, and post-procedure clean-up to maintain sterile, efficient environments.

  • Transported patients and delivered comfort items to support both physical and emotional well-being.

  • Stocked supplies and assisted with scheduling and documentation to improve OR readiness and efficiency.

Through this experience, I learned how every detail, from sterile preparation to patient interaction, contributes to the precision and humanity of surgical care.

Small Private and Community Clinics - Six in the Greater Houston Area

  • Volunteered in small private and community clinics across Greater Houston, many serving low-income and uninsured patients.

  • Collaborated with physicians and nurses, gaining insight into how healthcare access and quality vary between neighborhoods.

  • Assisted with administrative tasks, patient flow, and daily clinic operations while observing the challenges of community-based care.

  • Witnessed the quiet resilience of families seeking treatment, reinforcing my belief that medicine is both a science and a service.

AccessHealth — ArcGIS Mapping Tool Intern

  • Developed an ArcGIS-based mapping tool connecting 25,000+ patients to nearby medical and social resources across Fort Bend County.

  • Linked 360+ community organizations, helping hospitals and nonprofits identify service gaps and streamline patient referrals.

  • Collaborated with Unite and Inspire 501(c)(3) on field research, geospatial data collection, and socioeconomic analysis.

  • Lead a team of 60+ tutors, delivering 1,800+ volunteer hours to underserved students across the U.S. and Colombia, including learners with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

  • Oversee volunteer training, partnership management, and chapter operations, ensuring program consistency and measurable impact.

  • Designed and maintain the official chapter website, improving scheduling, tutor profiles, and access to student learning resources.

  • Designed and structured adaptive curricula to make complex STEM concepts engaging, hands-on, and accessible to all learners.

Six IDD Educational Programs Across Houston — Lead Mentor & Instructor

  • Lead hands-on STEAM and digital literacy instruction for over 50 youth and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) across multiple community education programs.

  • Teach a range of subjects including Microsoft 365, CAD design, and introductory programming in Java and Python, both virtually and in person.

  • Develop adaptive learning approaches that blend patience, creativity, and empowerment, helping each learner build confidence and practical skills.

  • Focus on mentorship that goes beyond academics—sparking curiosity, self-advocacy, and long-term independence through inclusive education.

Lions Clubs International — Founder & President, Tompkins Leo Club

  • Founded and lead a youth service chapter dedicated to community empowerment through hands-on volunteerism, civic engagement, and sustainable development projects.

  • Guided initiatives supporting childhood cancer awareness, hunger relief, diabetes prevention, environmental sustainability, and vision care.

  • Led physical service projects such as building community gardens in low-resource areas and organizing electronic recycling drives to expand digital access and reduce waste.

  • Coordinated community collections—including food, sock, and battery-recycling drives—benefiting 100+ families across the Katy area.

National Marrow Donor Program (Be The Match) — Regional Lead

  • Introduced to marrow donor advocacy through Unite & Inspire, then joined the national organization to expand outreach and recruitment efforts across Houston.

  • As Regional Lead, trained and coordinated dozens of volunteers to host swab-kit drives in partnership with schools, nonprofits, and healthcare organizations.

  • Helped register hundreds of new potential donors, contributing to lifesaving matches for patients battling leukemia, lymphoma, and other blood disorders.

  • Each drive reaffirmed my belief that small, compassionate actions—like a single cheek swab—can transform lives, reminding me that true impact often begins with empathy and awareness.

Operation Gratitude — Team Lead

  • Organized and led youth-driven volunteer events that combined creativity, gratitude, and community service.

  • Coordinated the design and delivery of 4,000+ personalized cards and care packages for veterans, first responders, and active-duty service members, each crafted to convey appreciation and care.

  • Engaged 1,500+ students across schools and partner organizations, fostering civic awareness and empathy through meaningful, hands-on outreach.

  • This experience deepened my respect for those who serve and inspired my aspiration to become a Navy physician, where I can unite medicine, leadership, and compassion in service to others.

Unite & Inspire (U&I) — Leadership & Youth Engagement

  • Through Unite & Inspire, a youth-led nonprofit, I’ve helped empower communities across Houston and abroad through creativity, education, and service.

  • As STEAM Youth Lead, designed and led inclusive workshops for youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), fostering curiosity, confidence, and hands-on learning.

  • Coordinated fundraising campaigns and donation drives supporting orphanages in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, India, and organized local art auctions to fund resources for underserved families.

  • Helped lead citywide volunteer initiatives, mobilizing youth to create hundreds of art pieces, care packages, and essential donations for families in need.

  • These experiences taught me that leadership is defined not by scale, but by impact—that every act of service, no matter how small, can spark hope, connection, and real change.

Halo House Foundation — Patient Wellness & Support Workshops

  • At the Halo House Foundation, which provides housing and support for MD Anderson cancer patients, I design and lead wellness workshops that address the emotional and physical challenges of long-term treatment.

  • Sessions incorporate creative expression, light movement, and mindfulness, creating a space for patients to rediscover comfort, connection, and hope beyond clinical care.

  • By engaging patients and families directly, I’ve gained a deeper understanding of holistic healing—how empathy, mental well-being, and human connection play essential roles in recovery alongside medicine.
